Beloved by Australians and foreigners alike, the Superb Fairy-Wren is a familiar bird in the south and east of the continent. The brightly coloured males are normally seen in small flocks of duller, brownish Fairy-Wrens. These are mostly not “females”, but subdominant males, which help with the co-operative breeding in the family’s group.
